Investment Process
Montague Capital's aim is to achieve high absolute returns by using a complex process that involves a careful balance of investment tools, techniques and styles.
This robust framework ensures that research is both rigorous and creative and provides our investment managers with a disciplined background to their decisions.
The investment process is principally bottom-up stock selection. This means that we identify undervalued companies and invest in them. If a company becomes fully valued or an alternative offers greater potential upside, the investment is sold and the proceeds reinvested.
These individual stock selection decisions are less complex and more reliable to forecast than predicting an index of stocks with an infinite combination of variables.
As a result, asset allocation decisions are driven by the aggregation of our conviction in stock selection decisions, with economic forecasts being used primarily as inputs into individual company models.
